Metadata Standards & Information Management Protocols
Many organizations are unaware what metadata is and why it is important. They are also unfamiliar with international metadata standards and information/library management protocols. Information and knowledge needs to be protected and archived for future use. The IM Extension Program will work to build awareness and knowledge of metadata and associated standards/protocols, participate in collaborative information management and sharing initiatives, and contribute to provincial and federal government programs.

Planned Outcomes:
As a result of this project, organizations will say they have an increased understanding of how to manage their information using appropriate metadata standards, tools, and technologies. Through the activities of this project, the foundation will be set for organizations to enhance their skills and behaviours in archiving and protecting information for future use as well as sharing information in data warehouses. All these outcomes are essential for supporting sustainable natural resource management decisions.
