Information Management Partnerships & Capacity Building
Information sharing and partnerships in information management research ventures are key to collaborative and sustainable resource management. Organizations are developing information systems independently and are unaware and/or underutilizing existing resources and information management initiatives. The IM Extension Program will work to build awareness and knowledge of existing information initiatives which will lead to an increase in collaboration between organizations and reduce duplication of efforts. Activities will include networking and knowledge-building events as well as outreach, problem solving and technical sessions.

Planned Outcomes:
As a result of this project, there will be an increase in collaboration between organizations, agencies, and institutions in managing (sharing, exchanging, archiving, disseminating) natural resource information. Organizations with common information management agendas will have opportunities to discuss how their initiatives will interact and benefit from each other. Finally, learners will say they have an increased awareness of existing information management initiatives as well as enhanced skills and knowledge on how to participate. All these outcomes are essential for supporting sustainable natural resource management decisions.
