Ecosystem Restoration in Mountain Pine Beetle and Wildfire Impacted Areas: Tools and Techniques

Ecosystem restoration has broad application; it may be designed for use on terrestrial, aquatic, or riparian ecosystems. Restoration planning for forested ecosystems involves the identification of the damaging agent and its effect on particular forest values, setting ecosystem restoration goals and objectives, and implementation and evaluation of restoration strategies for meeting these objectives. In some areas, silviculture treatments may be suitable as strategies for restoring ecosystems to meet both timber and non-timber values.

This workshop is intended to provide participants with a better understanding of ecosystem restoration planning and monitoring in BC, and terrestrial, riparian, and aquatic restoration techniques for mitigating the effects of mountain pine beetle and wildfire disturbance events.
