Socio-economics, Indigenous and Knowledge Management Cluster
The Socio-economics, Indigenous and Knowledge Management team is a group of three extension specialists working in the areas of Socio-economics, Aboriginal Forestry, Indigenous Knowledge, and Information and Knowledge Management. The goal of this cluster is to provide extension services that assist our clients to access research-based information and link researchers and practitioners to resources that will bridge gaps in the human dimensions of resource management (areas such as economics, community development, culture, values, and public involvement), aboriginal forestry, and information management. The cluster is guided by three working groups: the Socio-economics Working Group, Aboriginal Forestry Working Group and the Natural Resources Information Management Working Group.
The overall goal of the Ecosystem Management and Conservation Biology (EMCB) program is to promote the conservation of biodiversity in British Columbia ecosystem, by using the principles of ecosystem management and conservation biology. The program strives to maintain healthy ecosystems and species populations within their historic ranges, at appropriate temporal and spatial scales, to achieve a long-term sustainable balance between society and the natural world. The cluster is guided by the Ecosystem Management and Conservation Biology Working Group.
The Forest Resources Dynamics team is a group of six extension specialists working in the areas of early stand dynamics, ecosystems and stand management, forest operations, and ecosystem productivity. The program’s goal is to provide extension services that link stand-level practices with landscape-level planning while considering the environmental, social, and economic concerns that affect the future of the forest stand. The cluster is guided by the Forest Resources Dynamics Working Group.
The goal of the watershed management cluster is to increase the use of science and innovation in watershed management. As a result of this cluster's activities, there will be increased awareness and knowledge of the natural conditions of coastal and interior watersheds, of current research results, and of the effects of watershed management. The cluster is guided by the Watershed Management Working Group.
