At FORREX, we’re demonstrating that knowledge is most powerful when it is shared and understood. Knowledgeable people are empowered people.
When it comes to sustaining our complex ecosystems and the life that depends on them, knowledge in the hands of decision-makers and practitioners
means better decisions, better policies, better practices.
FORREX develops and shares the latest and most innovative knowledge to support the decisions and practices that will maintain and enhance the
long-term health of our ecosystems and communities. We provide environmental, economic, social and cultural learning opportunities that will
benefit present and future generations.
FORREX was honoured to receive the 2002 Sustainability Award for Improving Decision-Making from the British Columbia Fraser Basin
Council. The award recognized FORREX's accomplishments "... in developing processes that reach creative agreement and achieve common goals that
reflect the diverse needs of a growing population mixed in gender, culture, religion, age, and interest ..."
FORREX is in the solutions business. We help people make informed land use decisions by putting the best information to work today and
uncovering better information for tomorrow.

- Empower private landowners to practice sustainable forest management.
- Foster an understanding of wildlife habitat needs, knowledge gaps and research priorities to promote biodiversity conservation.
- Build respect for Indigenous innovations and practices and encourage the exchange and use of this important knowledge.
- Strengthen sustainability by expanding awareness, understanding and application of sound ecosystem management concepts and principles.
- Improve the organization and use of natural resource data and information in Canada through the Natural Resources Information Network
