Planning and Implementation of Ecosystem Management Principles – improved access to and synthesis of information.

Project Abstract:
The activities in this project will focus on improved synthesis of and access to information on the principles of ecosystem management thereby allowing them to be incorporated into sustainable forest management and stewardship planning. This project will include a ecosystem management scoping and needs assessment exercise to determine the state of knowledge in this area among natural resource managers and to identify information gaps. The project will also include development of a curriculum on the basics of ecosystem management. In addition peer assistance will be offered to the Ecosystem Based Management working group (EBMWG) to help them with the science based implementation of land use plans for the north and central coast. Outreach to natural resource managers and researchers on ecosystem management principles and other areas identified in the scoping and needs assessment exercise is also included as an integral part of this project.
