Socio Economics Innovations and Northern Communities in Transition

Project Abstract:
Communities in northern British Columbia are working to develop and implement economic development strategies that will ensure long term viability of their communities and natural capital. Community leaders, planners, and business leaders need access to social and economic science and the ability to apply that knowledge in strategy development and implementation. They also desire knowledge of adaptive management systems and means to monitor their progress against defined measurable permformance criteria and indicators. Activities in this project will build social and economic knowledge capital as it relates to society and natural resources. A priority focus of 2008 09 will be to develop partnerships and build linkages between implementation parties and existing knowledge capital.
