Mountain Pine Beetle - Science based policies and practices
Project Abstract: Activities under this project are designed to increase the knowledge of natural resource managers with respect to scientific, experiential and indigenous information relating to the management of forests impacted by the mountain pine beetle and will help natural resource managers and others adapt to the social, economic and environmental impacts of the mountain pine beetle epidemic. The first phase of the Mountain Pine Beetle Emergency Response funding ended in March 2008. This project will focus on the planning and preparation of a conference to present a synthesis of research and operational innovations resulting from program funding. It will also include outreach to MPB researchers and practitioners. In addition a Flash Presentation on road building in relation to the higher than normal water table issues will also be made available on line.
