Watershed Management Listserv and Website

Project Abstract:
Innovations and current knowledge in watershed management are often difficult to access and fragmented across many organizations. This project is focused on maintaining and enhancing access to the latest watershed management innovations through the world wide web technologies so that forest managers, decision makers, researchers and practitioners (e.g. forest hydrologists and geoscientists) will have increased knowledge and awareness of current watershed management issues, research and extension products. Activities for this project include regular updates on the Watershed Management Extension Program website (i.e., web links, program, new publications, Streamline and Compendium web pages), monthly Watershed Management Listserv postings (12 posts per year) and subscriber's list maintenance.

This project will help to fill identified client needs that watershed management information is often difficult to access and is often fragmented between many organizations. Also clients have stated that it is often difficult to “stay in touch” with all the new information or events related to watershed management that occur on an annual basis; therefore, there is a need to have a listserver that keeps the clients informed in an effective and efficient manner (Watershed Management Working Group 2005, PFEP Client Needs Survey 2006).

These activities will: i) increase awareness and timely access to watershed management information; ii) increase knowledge and awareness of watershed management issues, current research and extension products; and, iii) increase awareness of education and training opportunities in watershed management.
