An Opportunity for Your Input into Common Indicators of Sustainable Forest Management in British Columbia
In 2005 Dr. Gordon Hickey and Dr. John Innes worked with a team of scientists to review and prepare a set of SFM indicators for British Columbia. This scientifically prepared set of 200 indicators was presented in February 2005 at the Common Ground for Criteria and Indicators Forum and is available online at: www.forrex.org/bcci/reports.asp. The Forum served as a focus group for review of the work to data by scientists, government officials, and forest industry. Feedback from these focus groups recommended a more thorough review of the set of well described indicators by key constituents of sustainable forest management. A more thorough literature review and description of each of the 200 indicators was completed by Alyson McHugh, Angeline Gough and Dr. John Innes in the fall of 2005. The report chapters are organized by the criteria developed by the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers as follows: A standardized format is used to make it easier to locate particular criteria and elements. Draft chapters from this report are available for your review and comment via this web page. Your feedback will be used, along with the results from a review of SFM Case Studies to complete the final report. On behalf of the Common Ground Steering Committee, we invite you to review any or all of the chapters by clicking on the chapter title. Upon review of these chapters, we welcome you to provide valuable anonymous feedback by clicking on the chapter survey. |
