Coastal Landscape Ecology and Conservation Biology
Project Abstract: Natural resource professionals need to manage coastal landscapes to maintain viable populations of native fish and wildlife. In light of rapid habitat fragmentation due to coastal development, critical habitat needs must be identified to aid planning efforts. This year’s activities include an intensive outreach effort to contact foresters, agency personnel, tribal members, community leaders, and other persons of interest to assess their research and extension needs. Field trips will be conducted to meet with clients/collaborators to discuss and assess the coastal landscape stewardship issues first hand. Two technical sessions will be conducted to discuss community of practice on predator-prey interactions. An extension note will be produced summarizing the findings of the coastal needs assessment.
